The Ugliest Thing I've Ever Made

Ok, ugly might be a strong word, but I do not like how this little romper turned out. I bought this pattern, and didn't realize that A, it has a seam running right down the middle of it and B, it doesn't have any snaps or buttons in the crotch. I was disappointed in the pattern. Then, as I started to stitch my pieces together (I had already cut them out when I realized the flaws in the pattern), I immediately decided that these fabrics don't look great together. Mid-project I whined to my husband about how terrible it was going and he said, "Just scrap it. It's fine." But I can't. I'm a "finisher." I can't stand to leave projects undone, so I finished it.

I don't hate it as much as when I started it.

Then this little girl put it on, and everything changed. She totally rocks the romper. Of course, she would look adorable in a paper sack, but it made all of my labor worth it.

It is also reversible.

I decided to post this to remind myself that it is ok to fail. It doesn't mean that every fabric I choose from here on out will be terrible and every project a disaster. I just need to try again.

Reese - 10 Months

Dear Reese,

You are 10 months old today, weigh about 19 pounds and are acting so big. You are so frustrated that you can't crawl or walk yet. You want so badly to get toys that are just out of reach or walk from the coffee table to the ottoman. You will be so much happier when you learn those skills, but I'm enjoying the last few days of ease until you become more mobile.

You enjoy all kinds of baby food except rice cereal and have tried oyster crackers and grapes. No teeth yet!

You have learned how to spit; very lady-like of you. You will spit and as soon as Will hears you, he will come running so that he can join in on the fun. Will and you can sit forever just spitting at each other. I try to tell you to stop but it is actually really cute.

I love those cheeks!

You can clap and wave.

You love Will so much and he loves you. You have started trying to talk to him in your cute baby gibberish. He will repeat whatever made up word you just said and you will give him a huge smile. It is so sweet!

We tried to take pictures too close to bedtime.

You are different from Will in that you enjoy playing in the dirt and getting your hands dirty. The whole time I was trying to take your picture, the only thing you wanted to do was get handfuls of dirt and examine them.

We love you Reese and can't even remember what our family was like without you. I can't believe in two short months you will be one! You are a blessing.

Will's 3rd Birthday

Dear Will,

Today you turned 3 years old. You weigh 32.5 pounds and are wearing size 3T clothing. You love to play baseball, love the Rangers, and are obsessed with trains; in particular, Thomas the Train. You are a picky eater who will not eat any meat unless it is pepperoni pizza or ground beef mixed into spaghetti sauce. You refuse to try any new foods. You have an incredible memory and can memorize books and verses from the Bible quickly. You adore Reese and are a very good brother to her. You are so sweet and very obedient. You love to go to the Botanical Gardens, the zoo, and the museum. You are speaking very well and add new phrases to your vocabulary every week.

We had your birthday with some of your closest friends at the park by the zoo. We ate brunch, ran around, opened gifts and then rode the Forest Park Miniature Train. The weather was perfect and you had so much fun!

You don't like cake, so we opted for donuts and cookies instead.

I asked you about some of your favorites and here are your answers:
