Walk to End Alzheimers

This last weekend we went to Abilene to walk in the Walk to End Alzheimers.  My sister, Andrea, is on the board of that non-profit in Abilene and invited us to join her. We had a lot of fun and hopefully we raised some awareness of this terrible disease.

I love this picture!

My First Tag

I am officially a knitting nerd. I tagged my first object and I am so proud of it! I first learned about tagging from my friend Robyn. There is a group of knitters called Knitta Please that go around their cities tagging objects such as stop signs, street signs, door handles, trees, buses, etc. They do it just for fun and to add a little zaniness to the everyday. I decided to tag a stop sign that is near my home and the home of my friend Robyn as a surprise for her. I'm not sure that she has seen it yet, but I hope when she discovers it, it will bring her joy.

Here is what I knitted using leftover yarn from other projects.

The stop sign pre-tag.

The stop sign post-tag.

It was so funny watching the people drive by and stare at me while I sewed this sleeve to the stop sign. I put this up around 9:00 pm on Sunday night and around 6-7 cars drove by in the 5 minutes we were there. That gives you an idea of how busy this area is. This is the stop sign at the corner of Westcreek and I-20 if you want to check it out. :)

I had to go back and check it out the day after to make sure it was still there and to take a better photo of it. How long do you think it will stay up? My best guess is 30 days. I will keep you posted.

Office Chair Redo

I recently tried my hand at spray painting a piece of furniture. Here is the original chair that I purchased from an antique store in college. I probably paid $15 for it.

I reupholstered the seat with a cool vinyl fabric that I found at Cabbage Rose in Fort Worth. I believe it is made by Michael Miller.

Spray painting furniture is a little bit trickier than I thought, but I will definitely try it again.

By the way, I am seriously considering redecorating my living room and bedroom. Here are some items that I love....

For the Living Room:

Pillow or reupholster the chair below
Club Chair
Rug in Chocolate from Ballard Designs
New table lamps from Target

 For the Bedroom:
Headboard from West Elm

Reading lamp sconces

Will's First Bible Class

This last Wednesday was Will's first time to sit in the table at Bible class and he did a great job! I was told he sat through the entire class which is between 20-30 minutes long. The ladies that work in the nursery were kind enough to take some pictures of this momentous event and send them to me. He is such a big boy!

Elf Hats

I love to try out new crochet or knitting patterns! My good friend Denielle asked me to crochet some elf hats for our mutual friend, Amber, who just had twin girls. I can't wait to see photos of them wearing these cute pink stripes.

My husband's cousin's wife also asked me to make an elf hat and diaper cover for her son who is to be born in the next few weeks. Jack, I hope you love them!

4 Months Old

Dear Will,

You are four months old and are such a big boy! So many people have commented on how big you are and I can't wait to go to the doctor for your check up next Tuesday to see which percentile you fall into. Even though you were born 3 1/2 weeks early, you have caught up in weight and height so fast. You are a great eater.

Right now you are so close to rolling over. You love to lay on a pallet of blankets on the floor and roll around. You will do anything to see the TV even though you are not allowed to watch it. :) I'm sure in the next couple of weeks you will accomplish your first rollover.

You also love to stand up. You can stand for several minutes. Your daddy has been trying to teach you to walk already much to my dismay. I want you to stay little for as long as you can. I love to rock you and give you a bath. You love bath time! You like to kick and splash. I bet you are going to love G.G. and G. Daddy's pool when you are bigger.

You love to talk! You will talk for an hour sometimes to your Grandma or G.G. or even Daddy and I. We love to hear your baby babble.

This is after the outfit change due to a massive poopy diaper.

You love to grab for objects and are very interested in studying them and seeing if you can fit them in your mouth. You also love to stuff your fingers and sometimes your whole fist in your mouth. This month you started drooling as well.

This is my favorite picture. I think it accurately portrays Will at this age.

Will, we love you so much. You are such a joy in our lives. I can't even remember what it was like without you.

Will's First Football Game

We took Will to his first Abilene High Football game against Euless Trinity last weekend. It was a little too much with the heat and sitting right next to the band, but he did well and even fell asleep half way through the game. I thought my arm was going to fall off. I also did not anticipate there not being a baby changing station in the Women's restroom. I had to find a little corner and change him on his changing pad on the floor. Ewwww! I think we will wait another year before we try that again.
